Comedian Ricky Gervais has offended people again and it has raised the debate around comedy do’s and don’ts. He has defended himself after he came under fire for a joke about dead babies in his latest show.
Gervais has been touring his latest stand up show Humanity, and performed a string of shows in Northern Ireland this week. A couple who had recently lost a child attended his show in Belfast on Thursday, and reportedly walked out after Gervais made a joke about stillborn babies.
They said it was their first night out together since losing their baby and never expected to hear a joke about stillborn babies. Comedy has always crossed the line over the years. Comedians have made jokes about disability, tragic disasters and events in history, homosexuality and let’s face it they are not going to stop doing it.
Do you think people are right to be offended by it? Or is any subject is fair game for a laugh? Did Ricky Gervais go too far this time?
